About Nurture Mindfully
I believe that when you feel good in your skin, you make better decisions about how your life goes. My goal is for you to feel free from anxiety about food, so you can enjoy the process of eating (and living) without feeling restricted or like you have to hide who you are.

Hi there!
About Me
I'm Skylar, a holistic nutritionist and certified health coach. I received my master's degree in nutrition from The National University of Natural Medicine located in Portland, OR where I currently reside with my dog Ollie. I have a passion for helping people cultivate their happiest and most authentic relationship with food and their bodies.
I believe in Health at Every Size (HAES), and practice with a body neutrality and Intuitive Eating approach.
I work with individuals who want to feel more confident about their bodies, gain clarity around what makes them feel nourished, and achieve healthy habits that will last them for life.

How did i get here?
My Journey
I became interested in this line of work after experiencing my own struggles with body acceptance, which heavily impacted my relationship with food. It took me many years to unlearn the messages I internalized from diet culture. I subscribed to the belief that my body would never be good enough, that being thin was more important than being happy or healthy, and that some foods were “good” while other foods were “bad.” These beliefs consumed me and prohibited me from showing up as my most authentic self. I got tired of looking in my mirror with discontent and decided I wanted to be unhappy no more, so I started along the process of healing my relationship with food and my body. I now get to show up in the world in a body that allows me to walk, dance, play with my dog, and be a joyful part of the human experience. I now look in the mirror and think, gratitude.

Let's Work Together
I hold the hand of people as they walk along their journey to feel like their most authentic self. If you are interested in getting off the diet train and want to learn how to honor your body with gentle nutrition, you are in the right place.
When I decided to work with Skylar, I didn’t really know what to expect. Each of our three sessions brought me to greater depths and understanding that I didn’t know I needed. I was fascinated by how much we uncovered as she helped me connect the dots between who I am, how I operate, and how these things influence my thoughts and beliefs around food. There is so much good that can come out of this work, and I am glad that I experienced it with Skylar. She will hold you, guide you, support you, but also respectfully challenge your thinking, all the while facilitating the discussions to help you make the discoveries for yourself. She is incredibly passionate and establishes a warm and safe environment where vulnerability can be accessed and achieved. I cannot emphasize enough how important and valuable this work is. I highly recommend working with Skylar to not only develop a greater relationship with food, but also to gain a better understanding of yourself.

Working with Skylar was incredibly eye-opening and insightful. She is empathetic, kind, and professional. The way that she compassionately poses questions allowed me to think deeply about my relationship with myself and food. These sessions gave me the opportunity to explore the way that I make decisions in my life, why I make those decisions, what I prioritize, and ways that I can make changes that align with my values and needs as I currently see them. Skylar validated my experiences and ensured that I felt heard and comfortable throughout each of the sessions. She was able to tailor our conversations and sessions based on my needs and where I am in my life. I am so appreciative of the work we did together and would absolutely recommend this to others.

What an amazing and enlightening experience it is to be a part of the group health coaching! Skylar led us through a process that has helped us think about our relationship with food as well as our relationship with our bodies and ourselves. She is warm, empathetic, and encouraging in each session. After the first few sessions, I realized that Skylar was steering us on a course of self reflection and insight. Some of the deep-diving can be difficult but her professionalism and gentleness make it easy to be honest and open. She listens intently to each of us and always knows the right questions to pose or comments to make that would lead us to make conclusions, eliminate our guilt and/or develop personal goals. I can say that this couching is helping me tremendously. Skylar truly has a gift and I am so grateful I am able to work with her!
